Respiratory Consulting Services, Inc. (RCS) is a private agency based in eastern North Carolina that has provided clinical respiratory therapies for a number of years both as outpatient services and in-home care.

Several years ago, RCS began to provide case management for children with asthma in the school setting. The goal of the service was not just to monitor the child's respiratory status, but to strive for optimal asthma management in his or her own environment.

The success of the school outreach program has been demonstrated through increased individual asthma management, decreased days lost from school, and decreased hospital ER visits and admissions. Recognizing the impact of the positive outcomes for our clients in the school setting, RCS has developed a more formal asthma management program. The Pediatric Asthma Care Management Program is now available in a number of counties and has been designed to interface with any school health program.
